There’s always that question that pops up when it comes to the finances of weddings, who pays for what? Sometimes family situations are different or traditions for payment don’t matter. Families might want to split things up differently, or maybe the bride and groom are paying for everything on their own, but listed below is little bit of information on who pays for what.  

The Ceremony
The Bride and family pay for the church, synagogue, sexton, site fee, organist, etc.
The Groom and family pay for the marriage licence and officiant.

The Attire
The Bride and family pay for the dress, veil, accessories
The Groom and family pay for grooms attire
All attendants including wedding party pay for their own attire (including shoes)

Photographer and Videographer
The Bride and family pay for all wedding related photography and videography

Floral
The Bride and family pay for the arrangements for the ceremony, reception, bouquets, corsages or bridesmaid bouquets for the bridesmaids and flowers girl(s)
The Groom and family pays for the brides bouquet and going away flowers, boutonnieres for the men, and corsages or bouquets for the mothers and grandmothers.

The Reception
The Bride and family pay for all professional services, including food, drink, decorations, cake and music

Pre-wedding Parties
The Bride or Grooms family plans and hosts engagement parties
The Brides family plans and hosts the bridesmaids luncheon
The Maid of Honor and bridesmaids host the bridal shower
The Grooms family plans and hosts the rehearsal dinner
The Groom hosts and plans the bachelor party
Friends may throw additional engagement parties and showers

Stationery
The Bride and family pay for invitations, announcements and wedding programs

Transportation
The Bride and family pay for transportation of bridal party to and from the ceremony and reception

Honeymoon
The grooms family pay for the honeymoon
